This article can be read in about 6 minutes.

Introduction.

In a previous article here, we described milk warmer for nighttime crying, and now we describe two tools for daytime sleep and cuddling.

Since about two and a half years ago, when my second child was a few months old, I have been conscious of using technology to make things easier, and I have tried a few things that have been good, so I include them as a reminder.

Baby Monitor ( KX-HC705) by Panasonic

First, the Panasonic baby monitor (KX-HC705-W).

The camera is equipped with three types of sensors: sound, motion, and temperature. When the sensors respond, the LEDs on the monitor turn on and a notification tone sounds, so you can notice changes in the baby’s condition in the bedroom or other places without having to watch the monitor constantly.

For example, while doing housework in the living room or kitchen, a change in the condition of a sleeping baby in the bedroom, for example, can be immediately checked with the monitor unit.

Basically, the camera is to be installed in a crib, but the main unit by itself is designed to be placed on a flat surface or fixed to a wall with screws, so if you want to fix it to the crib frame, you will need to purchase a separate clip.

For more information on how to install the system, see this blog.

When actually installed, it looks like this.

The monitor is placed in the workroom or living room. It is good that the monitor is palm-sized and can be carried around quickly, and that the screen automatically turns black when the sensor does not respond, making it difficult to lose focus on work.

All in all, the total price is about 20,000 yen, which is not cheap, but personally, I think it is worth buying.

Electric high-low chair by Combi

During the day, when a baby cries because he or she is fidgety or requires a cuddle when not being fed or changing a diaper, the cuddling process takes up a lot of time, and everyone has experienced that the moment they think the crying has stopped and gently place the baby in the crib, the baby cries again.

I personally find it strange that he stops crying when I carry him in my arms, but I thought maybe a high-low chair would help him stop crying, so I tried an electric high-low chair for the first time.

I was able to try a one-month trial rental (product not specified), so I rented for a month to test it out.

As a result, it was more useful than I had imagined, as an alternative to daytime bedtime swaddling.

Basically, it can be used in all situations except milk and diaper changes. You place the baby on the electric high-low chair, press the power button, and rock the baby manually at first, and then automatically for 15 minutes. Then the baby will fall asleep during that time.

Of course, there will be individual differences here, but in my child’s case, it was right.

Since the frequency of use is likely to decrease as they start turning over, and since it is quite expensive, it may be possible to rent it for a month at first and extend it to six months if it seems like a good fit.

It made me think that if I had used these two and the milk warmer with my first and second children, parenting would have been easier. There are many useful goods out there.
